What should I expect when dropping off equipment?

Expect a friendly face to greet you as you come in. We do not close for lunch so we'll be available from 8am to 5pm to check in equipment. Our staff will ask the right questions to make sure our technicians have the knowledge they need to fix your issues. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, we're here to help. Back to top ↑

Do you charge a diagnostic fee?

Yes and no. Upon diagnosing your issue we will contact you and let you know how we should proceed with the repair. If the quoted repair is simply too costly to proceed, there is a $60 diagnostic fee. However, if we do proceed with the repair, the diagnostic fee is waived and we will proceed at our hourly rate. Back to top ↑

How much will my repair cost?

All computers are charged $95/hr plus the cost of parts. Most repairs only take an hour as we only bill for the time spent in front of the computer and not the overall time the entire repair takes. Printers are charged at $95/hr plus the cost of parts for inkjet printers and $150/hr plus the cost of parts for laser/dot matrix printers (some larger inkjet printers are billed at $175/hr plus the cost of parts). With all repairs, our technicians will work quickly and efficiently to get your repair done in a cost effective manner. How long will it take to repair my system?

Depending on our current work-load, the time a repair takes can vary. We aim to get all repairs done within 24 to 48 hours. There are times where this can take longer due to extensive diagnostics or the need to order special parts. We do deal with local vendors to get parts quickly and stock a large number of parts in-house so that repairs can be finished without delay. Back to top ↑

Can I expedite the repair?

Is my computer/printer worth fixing?

With new equipment becoming less expensive, this question is often asked. Depending on the age of your system, it may not be worth the cost of repair. Our technicians are very conscious of older equipment that is not cost effective to repair. We will never attempt a repair that would cost more than replacing the item.

What types of computers do you work on?

All types. We work on any brand computer. Whatever the age or issue, our technicians have the knowledge to get your system fixed. From viruses to bad hard drives, we've seen it all. There is no brand that we can’t fix. We also work on Apple computers!

What types of printers do you work on?

Any. From inkjet, to laser, to dot matrix, we work on all of them. Our most experienced technicians are extensively trained to work on Hewlett Packard, Okidata, Xerox, and Brother, but will work on any brand. From paper jams to streaking, no project is too big or too small. Back to top ↑

Are your technicians trained and certified?

Yes and yes. Our technicians have the training, certification, and experience needed to fix any issue presented to them. With a large staff, we have many technicians that offer unique skills. Our team's combined experience is the largest in the Central Valley.

Do you work on equipment under warranty?

Yes. We work on Hewlett Packard business workstations and laptops under warranty as well as Toshiba business laptops. We also work on Hewlett Packard LaserJet’s and all Brother printers under warranty. Back to top ↑

Can you recover data from a bad hard drive?

Yes. ITSolutions|Currie has the tools needed to recover your data. Some companies charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars to recover data from a bad hard drive. We will attempt to recover data via a number of methods including several software based recovery programs. ITSolutions|Currie, however, does not have a clean-room environment. If a hard drive needs new parts or needs to be taken apart we refer our customers to an offsite location in the San Francisco Bay Area that has the secure clean room environment. We have experienced a greater than 95% success rate on data recovery. Back to top ↑

Can I just purchase parts?

Yes. Though we would love to work on your equipment, if all you need is a part then we're here to help. ITSolutions|Currie has a large vendor network to find the correct part you need. Let us handle the tough job of acquiring a hard to find part for your equipment. Back to top ↑

What happens if you cannot fix my equipment?

ITSolutions|Currie CAN fix your issue. There is always a way to resolve your problem. Often a repair is not cost effective and we are quick to offer other solutions. There is simply no issue we can’t handle. Back to top ↑

Do you warranty the work that you do?

Definitely! All the work we do is guaranteed for 30 days beyond the repair. All parts are also guaranteed for at least 30 days (some parts manufacturers and/or vendors offer longer warranties). Back to top ↑

Who’s repairing your equipment at ITSolutions|Currie?

Eric Nugent, Service Department Manager

Eric, a Modesto native, graduated from Beyer High School and MJC with an AA in Speech Communication before earning his BA in Communication (emphasis in Digital Media) in 2006 from CSU, Sacramento. Eric’s love of technology grew substantially in college, exemplified by one of his notable college projects. He recorded and narrated a short film whose subject was building a computer from scratch.
Eric began working for ITSolutions|Currie in May of 2008. He is proficient in servicing all pc computers and is Toshiba and Hewlett Packard certified.

 

Art Hill, Printer Technician expert

Art’s background in the Information Technology field spans more than 36 years.
He began his work on main frame computers, and everything tied to them.
As technology developed he started working with impact printers using ribbons, then laser printers, and ink jet printers, solid ink, thermal transfer printers, and then the multi-function printers. Specializing in printers seemed a natural fit for his mechanical abilities and attention to detail.
Art services all HP Inkjet, LaserJet monochrome and color printers, Brother printers/fax all types, Okidata Dot-matrix, monochrome and color laser printers, Epson printers, Lexmark Laser printers, XEROX solid ink, monochrome and color laser printers, Dell Ink, monochrome and color Laser printers, and virtually any other printing device.
